چکیده

The large-scale industrial use of polysaccharides to obtain energy is one the most discussed subjects in science. However, modern concepts biorefinery have promoted diversification these polymers several bioproducts incorporating sustainability and circular economy. This work summarizes major sources agro-industrial residues, physico-chemical properties, recent application trends cellulose, chitin, hyaluronic acid, inulin, pectin. These macromolecules were selected due their importance valuable functional biological applications that aroused market interests, such as for production medicines, cosmetics, sustainable packaging. Estimations global residue based on crop data from United States Department Agriculture performed cellulose content maize, rice, wheat, showing residues may contain up 18%, 44%, 35% 45%, 22%, 22% hemicellulose, respectively. (~32%), China (~20%), European Union (~18%) are main countries producing hemicellulose-rich wheat crops, Pectin inulin commonly obtained fruit (~30%) vegetable (~28%) while chitin acid primarily found animal waste, e.g., seafood (~3%) poultry (~4%).

Spore production in Paecilomyces lilacinus (Thom.) samson strains on agro-industrial residues

Paecilomyces lilacinus has potential for pests control. We aimed to analyze mycelial growth and spore production in P. lilacinus strains in several agro-industrial residues and commercial media. This study suggests alternative nutrient sources for fungi production and that the biotechnological potential of agro-industrial refuses could be employed in byproducts development.
